With the Skilled Workers Immigration Act that came into force on 1 March 2020, the

  • Section 81a of the Residence Act introduced the accelerated specialist staff procedure. Within the framework of this procedure, employers can significantly shorten the administrative procedure until the visa is issued, provided that the skilled worker living abroad holds a corresponding power of attorney, as relatively short deadlines are set for the individual procedural steps. Within the framework of the procedure, the respective competent immigration authority acts as an advice centre vis-à-vis the employer and coordinates the procedure with all other authorities and offices to be involved, particularly with regard to the recognition of the foreign qualification.

Different occupational groups are considered for the accelerated procedure for skilled workers, including skilled workers with vocational training or academic education, highly qualified staff, managers and IT specialists without university degrees. Under certain conditions, also persons for vocational training and in-house further training.
